time really flies. and yes i admit i have been ignoring the urge to update this blog hahahaha. but i'm sure most people know, (since fb is more effective than blogs) that i'll be spending the first half of my summer in toronto (summer programme). like i said, time really flies. it's already been 3 weeks since i left singapore.
yes i'm slowly adapting to this place... in fact i'm adapting really quickly. the streets here are really easy to navigate cuz they're all straight roads so by now, we more or less dun really need a map to get around anymore. foodwise, toronto is really multicultured, even more than singapore. everywhere, there's chinese, koreans, japanese, indians, malays, and ang mos. hahahah so basically there's a wide variety of food and .. well, i would say the food choices are somewhat like singapore, only more expensive. the standard prices here for a plate of whatever are like .. CAD5 to CAD12, which is almost S$6.50 to S$14. hahahaha really high standard of living here. but after 3 weeks, we've kind of gotten used to the prices since they're all high. there's no more going like... ohhh lets eat something cheaper. hahaha
oh and the portions are HUGE. so most of the time we share to save money. but then again, sharing gets to it limits. cuz soon, everyone would wanna eat something they crave for instead of constantly catering to each other.
well thats about the living here part.
oh, my residence. hahaha so much better than anything in NUS. it's kinda atas, my residence. hahaha we live in suites, with 4 to 6 rooms in each suite - mixed or same sex.. however, being so open with the culture here, we were put into the same suite as 3 other hk guys, kevin, emerson, and john. they have the canadian slang, so they were born here. but well, hk origin hahaha. thankfully, they're really nice people, teaching us what is good around the place, where we should go, and what we should really do. how to get around , and even lending us their pots and pans and plates.
besides that, lessons here are kinda interesting.. they still use blackboards, but they have this thing called the clicker system. where you use this electronic device, with the buttons on/off, A, B, C, D, E. so is like MCQ qns that the lecturer will post on the slide and you press your answer. then she'll see what kind of answer the class has given. we're being graded on our clicker participation, but not on the correct answer. so basically, we just need to press something from our clicker. it's really fun to see people just pressing some random answer even when it's not even on the list and the lecturer makes some funny comment about that. another thing, people here don't really bring their notes to class. they write their notes on paper. and they don't even use pencil cases here. they just bring a pen to class. even during tests, no one brings a pencil case.
usually we try to follow their trend, but .. it's abit hard cuz you tend to forget to take stuff out of your pencil cases. hahahaha
well, as for other aspects of my life. there really isnt much to say. what you should know, you should already know. i'm really happy now, no matter where i am, or who i'm with. people who want to object can object. but if you're my friend. then you should trust that i am big enough to make my own decisions, big enough to trust my judgement, and seriously, i'm not as naive as before anymore. thru experiences, i've grown up. so just trust me on this.
seriously, i'm not really in the mood to get all subtle about stuff now. maybe next time. just take it that i know what i'm doing, that i know what i want.
